FALL TRENDS 2021
As much as I LOVE pouring through fall editorials, I’ve come to terms accepting that the majority of the looks are purely inspirational. But it doesn't stop me from dreaming about gorgeous coats, luxurious knitwear and tailored menswear looks . With that in mind, I keep a keen eye open for specific details and the mood of the season that I know I’ll be able to interpret for my lifestyle and my existing wardrobe.
This fall there are many trends that I feel could be easily adapted into your current wardrobe. Although I teach my clients to invest in a core wardrobe of classic pieces, I am all for adding seasonal trends that work with what they already have. Adding a deep magenta sweater or an emerald green blouse to top a pair of jeans or a pair of trousers is one example. A boxy blazer is something that would be easy to incorporate, as well as a sweater vest. I’ve added some selections at the end of the blog for you as well.
Are you a chunky boot fan? I have to say that they’re starting to grow on me…although I tend to gravitate to one with more of a heel. Like this one from Madewell. It looks a little more refined with a heel. I also love this one from Tory Burch. Other booties I’m eyeing would be this chestnut colored one from Rag and Bone.
It’s been fun looking at all the glamorous styles that are popping up in the editorials. Very decidedly elegant dresses and a more modern version of the LBD. And lots of sequins! I love dressing up, but I don’t really gravitate towards sequins or anything too glitzy. Although I’m happy to say that I’ve kept a charcoal sequin cardigan that I bought years ago from ETC(after a little persuasion). I love it during the holidays over a sleeveless dress or jumpsuit, and it looks fabulous with a charcoal silk charmeuse camisole with a pair of jeans. It was definitely a great buy all those years ago.
So, here are SOME of the trends you will see this season. I hope you find something that inspires you to add a little injection of chic into your current wardrobe.

I definitely will be adding a chain necklace to my jewelry collection . I’ve seen such a variety of styles and prices. But here are a few of my favorites. Besides the Laura Lombardi necklace pictured above I think this flat chain necklace is fabulous as well as this one from Cloverpost. I also love this thicker style from Loeffler Randall.
I think one of my favorite trends this fall, and one that is easily added to most wardrobes is the sweater vest. In the stores I’ve seen everything from oversized to more fitted - cropped to long and loose. Whatever style you’re drawn to , make sure it works with at least 3 things in your current wardrobe. It is a great way to add color to your wardrobe without making a huge investment. I keep going back to this green vest from Ganni. It would look great on it’s own under a cardigan or blazer or over a blouse or turtleneck. I really like this vest from H&M as well, it would be a great layering piece starting now and through early spring. And there are a few styles at COS that I think are fabulous . This, this and this one could be styled in some many different ways. A vest is such a versatile piece to have available on those mornings when you need an extra layer.
Enjoy the change of season, and all the fun of pulling out cozy sweaters and boots , watching the leaves start to turn and seeing pumpkins everywhere ! And as much as I love the bountiful fruit and vegetables of summer, I look forward to cooking long-simmering stews, soups, apple crisp, and of course, pumpkin bread!
