How to Wear A Classic White Button Down Shirt

I know you all don't live under a rock and know that a classic white button shirt is an essential part of any wardrobe. When I looked in my closet this morning and realized how many white shirts I owned it kind of surprised me. But each of them are very different . I actually only have one classic button down, the rest are some variation of that. The differences are in the length , the collar, the fabrication and of course the fit. Some of them have been in my clothing rotation for years and they will wear out before they go out of style!

My favorite way to wear a white shirt of course, is with jeans. and then of course with all different styles of pants and skirts. I also like to wear one tied at the waist over a silk skirt, like this . Wearing an oversized white tunic shirt over black leggings  (even better, leather or faux leather )is also very chic.

I've worn a white, fitted,  silk taffeta blouse with a full length taffeta skirt to a black tie event some years back and would wear it all over again. I felt very chic!  Or how about this? Stunning!  Have you ever tried a white button down blouse ala Carolina Herrera? She wrote the book on that look for sure.

In the summer, I love an all white look. White jeans or trousers paired with a white button-down shirt is a classic and enduring look. And you can use your white oversized tunic as a bathing suit cover up as well.

So, what are my favorite white shirts?

Where do I start...I love this one and this  one ( I love Cloth and Stone) from Anthropologie. Thisone from Cinq a Sept is such a flattering style and works for daytime or into evening. I like this blouse for it's femininity and it's novelty. And I love the back detail.  I have a very similar top that I always get comments on because of that. This one  from Zimmerman is lovely and on sale, so give it a look. And this one and this one are not button downs, but they're fabulous so I'm adding them in. Both are perfect for the holidays, Zara doesn't disappoint!

Until next time,
